XYZprinting, Taiwan-based company, announced a desktop 3D printer da Vinci Color 5D with laser engraving and color 3D printing (3D+2D) add-on.

The new product was unveiled at CES-2020 in Las Vegas, it’s expected to become commercially available soon. The new system follows the series of full-colour desktop 3D printers including da Vinci Color, da Vinci Color mini and the da Vinci Color AiO (All in One) with desktop 3D scanner and laser engraving system. Original full-colour 3D printing technology combines fused deposition modeling and painting each layer with inkjet from standard office printers. To achieve good results it is recommended to use special filament made of modified porous polylactide (PLA), promoting an ink absorption. In monochrome mode, various resins could be used, including PET-G, plastics with metal fillers and carbon-filled filaments.
