To solve the headache of taking drug cocktails, Athlone-based researchers have found a way to combine pill into just one.

 

Despite the many marvels that modern medicine can bring, we can often be burdened with a number of pills that can often lead to taking incorrect doses because of human error. This regular prescription of medication – referred to as polypharmacy – is now considered one of the leading causes of non-compliance in patients.

 

In order to better manage this medication cocktail, researchers from Athlone Institute of Technology’s Materials Research Institute have combined the fields of materials science, additive manufacturing and injection moulding to create a rather unique pill.
