Electron Beam Melting 3D Printers
Electron Beam Melting (EBM) 3D printers use a high energy beam that scans across a thin layer of metal powder causing localized melting and solidification over a defined cross sectional area. These layers are built up to create a solid part.
Technology Overview
Electron Beam Melting
Electron-beam machining (EBM) is a process where high-velocity electrons concentrated into a narrow beam are directed toward the workpiece, creating heat and vaporizing the material. EBM can be used for very precise cutting or boring of a wide variety of metals. The surface finish is better and the kerf width is narrower than those for other thermal cutting processes.
