Monterey Peninsula College is putting its 3D printers to work to create a prototype face mask they hope will be able to help hospitals around the country battling COVID-19.

“Our machines are perfect for this sort of thing. They print soft material called PLA that will with certain hair dyers allow them to be heated up and allow them to conform to medical staffs faces,” Monterey Peninsula College professor Gary Quinonez said.

While Quinonez executed the final product, the vision came from MPC student Jonathan Dupin while he was watching the news.
