Formlabs Materials Product Manager Kathy Bui told The Additive Report during a video interview at FABTECH 2019 that Formlabs’ roles as both a builder and user of 3D printers helps it meet the needs of customers.

 .

“We understand what users want out of our systems, and that informs product decisions and engineering decisions,” she said. “We want the [simplest] user experience possible. You put in your cartridge, you hit ‘play,’ and you walk back and you have your part.”

 .

Bui also talked about outsourcing 3D printing vs. buying a printer, what conventional manufacturing companies should know about additive, and Low Force Stereolithography. LSF, a technology developed for the company’s new Form 3 series of resin printers, produces lighter, easier-to-remove support structures. Kathy Bui explains features of the Formlabs Form 3 printer to Additive Report Editor Don Nelson.
