Anet has made waves in the 3D printing community before with its tremendously popular A8 FDM printer. A sub-$200 kit, it had a rare price-to-performance ratio that, in addition to being extremely hackable, made it the most popular printer of its day.
.
Unfortunately for the Shenzen-based manufacturer, a spate of social media posts detailing 3D printers catching fire – sometimes Anet A8s, and often attributed to alleged electrical faults – meant that the A8’s shining star quickly dulled.
.
Fast forward a couple of years, and Anet’s next horse in the race is the ET4. This machine is undoubtedly modern, with a tidy all-metal construction and a 2.8-inch touchscreen. With a retail price of around $279, the ET4 could be a top FDM machine in the budget space.
