Members of a Rutland makerspace hope to make thousands of face shields for Rutland Regional Medical Center.

“Couple of our members designed a new kind of face shield that’s really efficient for us to produce here on the laser cutter,” executive director Karen McCalla said. The Mint is a community makerspace and, according to McCalla, they’ve been making the face shields since last week. ”

They started with a file that someone else had created, made some improvements to it and they started doing that and then reached out to the hospital and said hey we think we make these for you guys,” she said.
