In the first part of our series on carbon fiber 3D printing, we discussed how the material is used in the larger world of manufacturing. As we’ve learned throughout this series, carbon fiber (along with other reinforcement materials) is typically used as a low-cost alternative to metal, given its high strength-to-weight ratio.

Though the material is found most frequently in the aerospace industry, it is increasingly used in other sectors, such as automotive, sports and construction.
