Evonik opens 3D technical center in Texas

Evonik Industries A.G. has opened a new technology center for 3D printing in Austin. The site will play a key role in Evonik’s development of materials for powder bed fusion, technology acquired when Evonik bought Austin-based Structured Polymers Inc. in early 2019, the company said in a July 16 news release.

The facility has an application technology laboratory with 3D printers and a processing area, a research and development laboratory, production rooms and office areas as well as meeting rooms. “The new technology center continues the success story of Structured Polymers under the umbrella of Evonik,” Thomas Grosse-Puppendahl, head of the additive manufacturing innovation growth field at Evonik. “We have now created the necessary framework to establish this advanced technology for the production of 3D printable polymer powders on the market.” Evonik had a relationship with Structured Polymers through investments […]
