GM , the American automaker, has been at the forefront of using 3D printing in automotive industry. The company is using 3D printing since 1989 for prototyping. It is moving faster than many companies to seize a competitive advantage.

GM, till the end of 2019, had added 17 production-grade Stratasys FDM® 3D printers to its fleet has been turning to 3D printed tooling for speed, weight reduction and cost efficiency on its production lines.
