HP Inc. has appointed NXP Semiconductors CEO Rick Clemmer to its board of directors, the Palo Alto computer and printer giant announced Thursday.

Clemmer has served as CEO of the Netherlands and Texas-based chipmaker since 2009. Prior to that he spent two years as the CEO of Agere Systems Inc., now part of San Jose-based Broadcom Inc. Clemmer has also served as a senior advisor of the New York City private equity and global investment firm KKR & Co. Inc.

“This is an especially exciting time for HP,” Clemmer said in a statement. “Innovation across HP’s Personal Systems, Print and 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing businesses provides a strong foundation for growth and value creation.” HP board chair Chip Bergh said in the statement that Clemmer has a record of “balancing disciplined cost cutting with growth investments, including through strategic transitions, that we believe will be additive to HP.” […]
